2628AALocality In my garden Latitude, longitude -26.1184520684881, 28.0302429199219 [0 m accuracy] Date 2011/7/24 Notes This weaver colony has been in my garden for over 20 years. They nest predominantly in a fever tree and adjoining Anna thorn. At times I have counted as many as 13 nests at the height of the breeding season. At the moment there are four nest being built in the fever tree/Anna tree and two in a nearby Pepper tree. The colony seems to nest all year round and appear to be active throughout winter although nest building seems to start in earnest in July. The main colony seems to have a dominant male with several male siblings and they spend their days squabbling and chasing each other in between their nest building activities. It seems that the dominant male has pushed out part of his family as weavers are now nesting in the nearby Pepper tree and in an exotic tree in a neighbour\'s property. I assume that this is an offshoot from the main colony as I\'ve never seen them nest there before. Nest count 6 Nest site tree
