this is a chaotic colony.
1. food. Continuous small flocks flying off to feed on figs in nearby trees and on the ground.
2. New nests still being built by both weaver species.
3. VW nests seem to be in upper canopy. LMW lower, often massed below.
4. Cuckoos. Both Diederiks & emerald all over these trees inside the colonies, calling and fleeing. Weavers seem to be attacking singly not en-mass - probably too many cuckoos to do mass attacks.
5. inspected vast reedbeds nearby. No weavers but many Red Bishop nests. not recorded. Nest count 0 Nest site tree

Comment: Most of the nests are Lesser masked weavers - & most of my
video - but on inspection of video & pics I see village weavers
recorded as well. 10 pics allows you to get some idea of location &
colony. I have much video. About 50-60 very active mostly male birds
in LH tree alone. Big colony. but cannot specify mix.
nests: counted 152 av on LHS & 196 on RHS, = about 340 in total old & new.
