Nest count - 52+ intact in this location. But - Many smaller active colonies on telephone wires or posts for about 18km on the R36, most on telephone wires - some on power lines.

comments: No birds seen. All nests are old. Checking for their return.
Nests: not counted 7079 793 10/9/2013 3 Vm 6989 revisited. No birds seen - but 3 new partially built nests seen & one ring besides old, dark nests.
7179 793 2/10/2013 0 Vm 6309/6989 revisited. Very active colony with new nests, competing males and females. Nests not counted as some are new, others are being revamped. Cannot tell. 7316 793 9/10/2013 70 nests spread out between 3 telephone poles, 5+ males, several females, 32+35+3 nests 7531 793 25/11/2013 0 Vm 7179 revisited. Colony has not grown or progressed at this main location since last 2 visits. Rains started recently. (Vm 7179) Males seen carrying insects and twigs, not for building or feeding, but holding them in beaks and doing shaking displays on top. Eventually dropping twigs in a disinterested way. Females busy inside nests, probably brooding. Black cuckoo calling from nearby tree.
