0239DDLocality Arbamukenge wetland near Chalalu, Dakatcha Woodlands, Marafa, Magarini District Latitude, longitude -2.8146333333333, 39.880066666667 [3 m accuracy] Date 2013/3/26 Notes This is the first time Clarke's Weaver nests have ever been described! The colony is in a tiny wetland about 30x80m in size with dense low forest / thicket on one side and open woodland the other. The nests are constructed in low sedges over water and are a somewhat loose construction of grasses woven together 'hanging' under some sedges brought and tied together at their tips. On the first visit birds were displaying and hanging around the colony with small flocks leaving and returning every now and then; I returned on 7/8th April and adults were hard at work bringing food in for the young.
