LocalityShambarai swamp edge
Latitude, longitude-3.7739166666667, 36.84545 [0 m accuracy]
Date2013/1/12
Notes3 colonies of Black-capped Social Weaver nesting within 500 m of above coordinates with another 3 colonies within 5 km. These are just what I intercepted so there could be many more though the heavy charcoal cutting does limit the number of mature Acacia tortilis that seem to be preferred. 5 of the colonies were in Ac tortilis and the 6th in Delonix elata. The colonies were rather small with an estimated total of 100 pairs for all six colonies together.
