The persistent, strong South easterly winds have created havoc in these colonies, by blowing down nests ans breaking off the small branches to which they were attached. On this property where I live, there are a few isolated weaver nests. They are all of poor quality, some even worse than the one in the pic. However they have been good enough for the hatching of several chicks. This illustrated nest is almost see-through and has a large chick in it. It looks as if it is ready to fly out. The mother took food to this chick this morning. In various places near to my cottage throughout the Summer, I have found isolated nests, most of which were occupied by chicks and serviced by attentive females. I put food and water out on a secluded patio and have attracted over 30 Guinea Fowl chicks in various stages of maturity.
