1915BBLocality Etosha National Park just south of Okaukuejo, nests on eastern side of road Latitude, longitude -19.201766666667, 15.922333333333 [0 m accuracy] Date 2012/11/4 Notes These nests are further north than any other Chestnut Weaver nests I can recall seeing. Perhaps you have others further north than these on your data base though. What was also very interesting was that we saw fairly large numbers of Chestnut Weavers about 24 km south of these nest sites at Etosha Safari Camp – no sign of any males in breeding plumage though. Given that we know that large numbers of juveniles remained throughout the winter in the area where they hatched between Windhoek and Okahandja (the last time we went ringing there on 01/09/2012 we still caught a fair number) we wondered whether these birds seen at Etosha Safari Camp were also first year birds which had overwintered in the general area where they hatched.
