799, Cape Weaver Ploceus capensis (see species summary here)Record status ACCEPTED Vm 3709 [on-line data upload (2012-11-02): 25476] Species Cape Weaver Observer(s) Francis, Sylva; Una Country, town, locus South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal, Utrecht,
2730CBLocality Farm near Utrecht Latitude, longitude -27.641666666667, 30.325 [1000 m accuracy] Date 2009/1/31 Notes Photos taken by a friend, Una. She hung a brown pot clay feeder just outside her bedroom window. A cape weaver decided that it's the ideal place for a nest, the food being right in the nest! He chased all birds away from the "bird table". So Una put up another bird table - a white plastic bowl. But Weaver saw he can use this too and built three nests! You can clearly see the difference in age of the grass. You can also see the porridge under the nest. The weaver spent his days chasing other birds away from both "bird table nests". Needless to say, he has not got a female! Nest count 0 Nest site man-made
