803, Southern Masked Weaver Ploceus velatus (see species summary here)Record status ACCEPTED Vm 3066 [on-line data upload (2012-09-27): 22715] Species Southern Masked Weaver Observer(s) Jones, Wayne Country, town, locus Lesotho, , Maseru ,
2928CBLocality on the road from Maseru to Thaba-Tseka, much further on than previous record Latitude, longitude -29.542286, 28.130061 [5000 m accuracy] Date 2012/8/24 Notes approx 18 nests. Most were clustered around the top of a pylon, but a couple were further away, suspended from wires over the road at a height of at least 21m I would think. There were a number of short to medium-sized trees just across the road [photo 2] from the pylon, so I'm not sure why the weavers preferred to nest up on the wind-exposed wires Nest count 18 Nest site man-made
