2918BCLocality On N14, approximately 17km southwest of Aggeneys Latitude, longitude -29.3475, 18.71444444 [150 m accuracy] Date 2016/12/9 Notes This location is currently the westernmost sociable weaver nest on the N14 road between Aggeneys and Springbok. Range expansion has been quite significant over the last 15-20 years. I worked extensively in the area until 1998 and at that time there were no sociable weaver nests in the area, not even east of Pofadder which is located about 100km due east. This location has none of the original birds which is not surprising given the current "guest", a Greater Kestrel. [BirdPix-33177] Judging by the amount of droppings I think this is pretty much a permanent occupation. This is supported by pictures of the same nest dating back to 2010 which shows the droppings but no bird. Nest count 0 Nest site man-made
