NotesNests far from the road (in deep wet swamp). most nests brown, presumably active earlier in the season (Nov-Feb?), some nests (e.g. far left) fresh green, and one male was flying up and down with nesting material. Photos 2-3: colony sites. In blue circles 3 clumps of nests indicated, but there were a few more, all in reeds apart from a few nests in papyrus. Some 20 nests were visible. First firm confirmation of breeding in Zambia. See also The Wattled Crane (BirdWatch Zambia) 46(4):10
