780, White-browed Sparrow-Weaver Plocepasser mahali (see species summary here)Record status ACCEPTED Vm 18022 [on-line data upload (2015-10-14): 169769] Species white browed sparrow weaver Observer(s) Zaloumis, Alex Country, town, locus South Africa, Limpopo, Ohrigstad,
2430DCLocality farmyard houses near R36 road between Lydenberg & Ohrigstad Latitude, longitude -24.860155, 30.570742 [0 m accuracy] Date 2015/10/9 Notes Location: large thorn tree besides old farmyard houses near R36 road.
Comment: stopped because noticed oxpeckers on a cow. Some were also WBSweavers! 2 sitting on a cow - using it as a perch. There were other trees with nests but no access and quite a few weavers
flying around and calling. This location was almost opposite the tree with nests (just reported) between the road and railway line, ie. Seems to be quite a widespread colony. This area has many old, abandoned buildings. Rusplek is an abandoned village maybe dating back to Voortrekker periods.
Nests. Picture shows 6 nests -but no access for accurate count. Nest count 0 Nest site tree
