Note: repeats from the same day are not shown.vm Species code Date Nests Notes 209 799 22/10/2010 11 In a flowering gum tree in my garden. 572 799 29/1/2011 42 A rather large boomslang again cased out the weaver\'s nests in the back garden. This time the adults were unable to drive it away. It slid into a nest and we could hear the chick peeping as it was bitten. The snake waited for a couple of minutes for the bird to die (all the while being pecked and battered by the parents) and pulled out its head with the chick in its mouth. The boomslang then dropped to the ground, where unfortunately a small group of dogs and cats were lounging - Saffy grabbed the snake and shook it, the chick came flying out of its mouth and the boomslang headed for the long grass at top speed.
That snake (or different ones, not quite sure) came daily - between the snake and a wind which blew down several nests, all the babies were wiped out and the colony dispersed overnight. Very sad! Out of 42 nests I\'m not sure that there were many successful fledgings - the cats got one, the Gymnogene was seen in the garden and succeeded in getting at least one, the boomslang took many, a few eggs and fledglings fell out of the nest. 1387 799 18/10/2011 40 A day after the first eggs hatched, this video was taken, see here.
