797, Village Weaver Ploceus cucullatus (see species summary here)Record status ACCEPTED Vm 13958 [on-line data upload (2014-11-03): 109446] Species Village Weaver nests Observer(s) Robinson D.M Country, town, locus South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal, Ashburton,
2930CBLocality On the Mpushini Stream Latitude, longitude -29.6960460828146, 30.4358384013176 [0 m accuracy] Date 2014/11/3 Notes stick nest in tree: I initially thought it was a Hadeda's nest but it appears to be too "big" for them. It does not appear to be active at present.
[19 Nov: I was in the area again this morning and checked on the large nest. It is a Yellow-billed Kite's nest and I assume it has chicks in it at the moment as both adult birds were close to the nest but not on it. The day I took the photo the female must have been sitting very low on the nest, but no adult
birds were close by. The nest is so positioned that one cannot see into it. Nest count 0 Nest site tree
