We presented posters at the conference. Here is Doug at his poster, based on his MSc thesis work on the migration of the Spotted Ground Thrush.

We stayed at the Weeva Hotel in the city centre. It was a great place to relax after the day's meetings, before heading off to find supper.

Night life in Groningen was very pleasant, with a student atmosphere. There were plenty of restaurants and pubs, many with outdoor seating in pedestrian zones. The summer weather was wonderful.

The meetings were held at the Biological Centre of the university in Haren, some 20 minutes by bicycle south of central Groningen.

One evening, en route back to Groningen we took a detour through the farmlands, which left us in no doubt that we were definitely in the Netherlands.

Between the train station in Groningen and the city centre is a canal circling the city.

On the conference excursion, we visited the Wadden Sea where we sighted thousands of Shelduck, European Oystercatchers and other waders.
