We stayed at the Weeva Hotel in the city centre. It was a great place to relax after the day's meetings, before heading off to find supper. |

Night life in Groningen was very pleasant, with a student atmosphere. There were plenty of restaurants and pubs, many with outdoor seating in pedestrian zones. The summer weather was wonderful. |

One evening, en route back to Groningen we took a detour through the farmlands, which left us in no doubt that we were definitely in the Netherlands. |

On the conference excursion, we visited the Wadden Sea where we sighted thousands of Shelduck, European Oystercatchers and other waders. |
