Weaver news
Yesterday Vincent Parker found a Chestnut Weaver male in breeding plumage building a nest at Spitskop Game Reserve, outside Upington. The nest was in a mixed-species colony of Southern Masked Weavers and White-browed Sparrow-weavers. Details of the record may be viewed in the PHOWN database at here. There have been annual records of the Chestnut Weaver in South Africa since 2011. Vincent Parker is undertaking a five year survey of the birds in the Northern Cape, including submitting bird checklists for SABAP2 (Second Southern African Bird Atlas Project). He maintains a fascinating blog of his travels in the southern Kalahari. |
