There have been annual records of the Chestnut Weaver in South Africa since 2011.
Vincent Parker is undertaking a five year survey of the birds in the Northern Cape, including submitting bird checklists for SABAP2 (Second Southern African Bird Atlas Project). He maintains a fascinating blog of his travels in the southern Kalahari.
