501277930/12/20125New - Red billed buffalo weavers in radio tower alongside R36 near Ndlovumuzi turn off. 5 new nests (3 males in attendance/on guard). Nests not noticed last year in spite of being inspected for RH weaver nests. Nests contain chicks. Males constantly building or attending to nests, displaying, squabbling and vocalising. Males bringing food to nests. Very active colony.
501180331/12/201226New - Sthn. masked weavers. Location 17, 5 & 4 nests, mostly unattended, located in 3 hookthorn trees surrounding a Radio tower mast site. Many small, similar colonies found in this area. seems masked weavers prefer small colonies located near seasonal water - local rains have been late this year so maybe one of the reasons for new Sthn masked weaver nests only being built now. Nests - 26
